Summer camp is too soon coming to a close and working with your children during this time has been such a treat! As always, we have learned so much from your children and hope that they have had as much fun as we have. The summer camp calendar was strictly followed with the exception of circumstances beyond our control or those involving inclement weather. During our activities, we used different types of materials including: Dough (pizza, cupcakes, pretzels, cookies), Bubble Wrap (painting & stomping), Inks (tie dye), Clay (figurines & animals) as well as recyclable materials for various art projects including: Father’s Day projects, Aquariums, Fans,
Wind Catchers, and even the Wet Sponge Toss, Bird Feeders, and Volcanoes. Co-operative play was evident in many activities involving indoor and outdoor games, and team play. All of our playground activities (Creative Movement, bean bag toss, ring toss, water activities, parachute, and Olympic Sports Days) all involved the use of fine and gross motor skills. The children enjoyed numerous field trips (Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago Fire Station, and Wonder Works), entertainment shows (Magician, Marionette’s, Juggler), music and singing, and so much more! As always, a true thrill was to have parents and family members volunteer for not only special
events but throughout the entire summer session. Thank you to all of our parent and family member chaperones and volunteers who helped make this summer an unforgettable experience for our amazing children, your cooperation has been excellent! For our upcoming Fall semester, we expect to work hard and have some fun as we welcome back many familiar faces and meet some new friends. Welcome new students, families, and staff
members. Our School year will have three components with different goals and objectives. First, Fall (from September 3rd to December 23rd), second Spring (from January 2nd to May 29th, 2020), and Summer (from June 1st to August 31, 2020). Attached is a copy of the Fall 2020 calendar with school closure dates, vacations, holidays, early dismissal days, and special event days; if necessary, emergency days may need to be added. Please note that during the school year ALL students must arrive no later than 9:00 a.m. Rather than asking parents to complete new enrollment forms for the school year, please review your child’s current file to confirm addresses,
telephone numbers, email addresses, authorized adults for child pick up, and medical information. Please pay close attention to the Kiddieland Website and Facebook page for school announcements, calendar, menus, and all activities.

The Fall enrollment process continues as we still have availability. Please let us know if you or anyone you know is interested in enrolling for the Fall since relatives and referrals from our current families have priority enrollment. In September, and throughout the year, children may
be transitioned to the next class. Movements are based on the child’s age, space availability, and the development and readiness of the child. Teachers will update and discuss with parents when their child may begin the process of moving forward. The time frame for transitions is based on
the child’s success of adjustment to their new classroom.

Transitions can take as long as two weeks or as short as one day. It is very important that the child is comfortable with their new teacher and classmates and we ask that parents encourage and support their child during this period of acclimation.

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE: The Back to School Open House, Meet & Mingle is Friday, September 6th, 2019 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. There will be an early dismissal for the children at 4:30pm. The teachers will hold a meet and greet in the classrooms from 4:30pm to 5:00pm and will present information regarding parent boards, curriculum, daily schedule,
communication as well as answer all questions you may have at that time. Between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, Kiddieland will provide refreshments and entertainment for the children in our parking lot and playground. This is a great opportunity for families new to Kiddieland to meet other parents and staff. Our new families will be able to see firsthand how the collaborative efforts and the school-family-community philosophy has been so successful in the education of children in our Portage Park/Belmont-Cragin neighborhoods. We are excited to have this opportunity which leads to parent participation! Feel free to bring your own lawn chair to kick back and enjoy watching your children play with their friends.
As security is always a priority, we ask that you not share your keyless entry code with anyone and most importantly, do not allow anyone to piggyback into the building on your code.

As stated in the parent manual, there is a fine for sharing your keyless entry code with anyone.
Please remember that this is for the safety of your children. Also, it is necessary that parents/guardians always sign children in and out each morning and evening.

Kiddieland ECE II recognizes that communication between parents and the school is essential. The beginning of a new school year brings us the start of our Kiddieland Coffee & Conversation. During this time, the program director will meet with parents to exchange ideas and comments to help us improve our program for the benefit of the children. We will be scheduling times in October, November, and December and will update as dates have been determined. Kiddieland ECE II is committed to maintaining a high quality early childhood education and we understand the importance of our parents’ feedback. Again, welcome to a new school year, thank you for the confidence you entrust as we work with your children. We look forward to another successful school year and welcome this year as we celebrate our 4th anniversary of Kiddieland ECE II!
